Things to do before or after the reunion-
Fairground Area: Covered Buildings, lots of space under trees for a picnic, stories being told and the smell of fall in the air! This will be a great reunion! Bring: Armband ticket, chairs, banners, tables, tents, BBQ grills, food and snacks, lots of liquids and beer is ok. Cans only. No glass. Drink responsibly. If you have a gift to donate for a game prize that would be great bring it.
GATES OPEN 11 am but if you have things to set up you can do it earlier we have the arena all day.
BOOTH INFO: Crafts, Homemade goods, including food. Canned or fresh even if a group of teens want to do a taco booth or order pizza and sell by the slice. Make some extra money! All are welcome. No charge just bring your own set up and clean up after yourself.

BBQ Contest: cousin "Johnny Almarez" has been in touch with real BBQ judges!
RULES:
RULES:
Entries must register with Judges. Cooking starts at noon. Judged by 6 pm.
All entries must be cooked outside. Bring in your BBQ pits.
Entry must be whole chicken, whole rib rack, whole beef skirt, Brisket 7 full slices, or pork spare ribs.
Judging is based upon: appearance, color, aroma, tenderness, taste and aftertaste.
No Garnish. Marinate is allowed.
Teams may consist of 1 head chef and unlimited cooks.
Members of your team must split any winning prize your team wins.
Teams must provide all their own supplies. Teams must provide their own cleaning area for wash, rinse and sanitization. The Chief Cook is responsible for the conduct of his/her team members and guests.No holes or dug pits are permitted. Fires must be wood or wood substance, gas. Fire extinguishers must be provided by cookers. Decisions of the Judges are final. Clean up your area.
BINGO- BINGO C/O Vilma Garcia Guerrea and Ludi Canales Salinas. Prizes will be donated, 2 sessions of BINGO 10 runs. A BINGO game was donated by Vilma and Ludi and few other family members.
POKER- Texas Hold 'em tourney.
MUSIC-
Estella Canales Garcia and her husband Leonel Garcia celebrating 66 wedding Ann. on Sept. 25, 2010.Their children will be having Mariachis for 1 hour that evening for their parents and Canales Reunion guest. They will play at sunset. Around 7.
We now have a DJ ( Thanks CAL!) for in between events so bring your dancing shoes!
Bring your guitars, singing voices and dancing shoes!
A very old 1890 John Deere Chuck Wagon ( used to cook Pan de Campo at the annual King Ranch breakfast for many years) also playing guitar and sing mariachi and cowboy campfire music will be there.

Alice is only 38 miles Tienditas family cemetery, and the original Canales farm.

MULES & HORSES-
Danny Gonzales from Mathis Texas about 35 miles NE. of Alice Texas. No relation to me, he is the brother-inlaw to 2nd. cousin, Vera. Danny has wagon with mules, about 12 people can ride. He only uses the mules and wagon at Fiesta del Ranch in Concepcion. Would come to reunion a least 3 hour it would be about 300.00 to cover cost travel and loading. I would willing to pledge 100.00 to cover part of the cost. from George Gonzalez- anyone want to step up and match his donation?

Also a few people would like to bring their horse to ride around the Jim Wells fair ground, 18 acres of fair ground. The only requirement is the health papers must be on the horse owner at all time when transporting horse. Must have health paper for each horse from a vet.

FOOD:
We encourage you to bring a picnic. BBQing and things that would have been done along the wagon trail. Some are coming from out of town so everyone should bring plenty to share. Just like the old days! Pies can be donated for a desert table. Bring your favorites.
George Gonzalez has the shiny dinner wristbands that you need to buy when you get to the reunion if you want to get a BBQ plate from the cater. $8 each. He will also be doing the set up and will take care of your questions when you get there!
